OUR History

The social cooperative enterprise of Epirus producers "ICHOR", based in Ioannina, is dedicated to the production of aromatic and medicinal plants, as well as other local products of Epirus.

The cultivation of aromatic plants of "IXOR" is distinguished by its arid character, while it is located at high altitudes and on virgin soils. This combination makes our products extremely rich in antioxidant properties.

The eight producers who form the cooperative "ICHOR" adopt as their philosophy organic farming and the high quality of their products. In cooperation with experts and agronomists, we strive to maintain our products at a consistently excellent quality.

ICHOR SCE takes on additional responsibilities towards the environment and society. By implementing sustainable practices and adopting green initiatives, we expect not only to produce healthy and quality products, but also to help maintain the ecological balance of our region. We also promote the principles of social justice by ensuring fair wages and working conditions for all our members, thus identifying IXOR as a leading example of socially responsible entrepreneurship in Epirus.

In addition, we are committed to educating and empowering local communities. We organise educational programmes and events to inform people about the benefits of healthy eating and supporting local producers. In doing so, we not only offer high quality products, but also strengthen the emotional and economic connection of the community to our products.

Our main concern is the promotion and promotion of the local products of Epirus in the domestic market, but also in international markets. Our members, consisting of small producers of aromatic and medicinal plants, as well as other agricultural products, work together to promote sustainable and quality agriculture.

2015

THE BEGINNING

The exciting beginning of our venture is due to two dedicated producers, George and Vangelis, who wanted to indulge in the cultivation of aromatic plants, away from the stress of the city.

The inspiration for their project was the living example of life on a farm in the village.

These pioneers took the initiative to start the first oregano and mountain tea plantations, seeking to realize their dreams with care and love.

2016

EXTENSION

Our initial cultivations were just the beginning, as we evolved our business by expanding the variety of aromatic plants we produce. Specifically, we added rosemary, thyme, meadowsweet, balsam, chamomile to our product list, and we moved on to harvesting the wild rose fruit from our private estates.

This expansion of our crops reflects our commitment to quality and diversity. By adding these new species, we are managing the natural environment with care and respect, while offering our customers a wide range of products with unique flavors and nutritional properties.

2017

THE IDEA

Seeking further cooperation, the two producers decided to join the Association of Aromatic Plant Producers of Epirus. There, they had the opportunity to get in touch with other producers from Epirus, expanding their network of professional connections.

Their participation in this association is an indication of their commitment to mutual support and the development of the aromatic plants sector in the wider region of Epirus. This active participation in producer communities contributes to the exchange of ideas, experiences and best practices, while strengthening the social and professional bond between producers in the region.

2018

COLLABORATION

After an interesting year-long process with various developments, the eight producers reached a consensus: the creation of a socially oriented cooperative. This decision reflects their ongoing commitment to society and sustainable production.

With the establishment of this cooperative, the producers have created a framework of cooperation that supports not only their economic well-being but also their social sensitivity. This socially oriented scheme represents their efforts to achieve sustainable development and to contribute to the local social fabric.

2019 -2020

Creation of a Cooperative

The social cooperative of Epirus producers is created with clear common goals and a philosophy that always follows the principles of social economy, as defined in its statutes. This enterprise creates a framework of cooperation aimed at enhancing the social and economic well-being of its members.

Through this cooperative, producers combine their efforts to ensure the high quality of their products and promote sustainable and socially just practices. The social character of the cooperative reflects their commitment to values such as reciprocity, fairness and sustainability. In this way, a dynamic social and economic environment is created that is conducive to interdependence and sustainable development.

2020-2021

PACKAGING

We are pleased to announce that we have successfully completed the construction of our packaging plant, which meets the high standards of the European Union. With this addition, we are able to realize our initial ideas about packaging in a way that meets the strict specifications and quality standards.

The new facility allows us to design and implement innovative packaging that highlights the quality and authenticity of our products. We continue to offer our finest products with thoughtful packaging, providing a consistent high-quality experience for our customers.
